Vince Power’s foray into the world of upmarket dining and music (he also runs the Mean Fiddler chain) is a beautifully made up jazz club right on Piccadilly. Set over several levels with extravagant hot pink décor, impeccable cocktails, and a decent menu, this is a classy date. The music, is no afterthought, with headline acts like Van Morrison and the Baker Brothers popping by fairly often, and great live jazz week in, week out.

Pigalle is a deliberate throwback to the glam and glitz of the Moulin Rouge and it works. Walking under the hot pink sign you feel a palpable sense of excitement, cleverly maintained by the greeters, the efficient table service, and the smashing cocktails. When the band takes the stage around the time your main course arrives, everyone puts down their knives and forks and gives it some in true jazz club style.

Combining food and dining with real panache, this is a great place to go to feel special for a night. It’s not cheap but at £70 for two, excluding booze and extras, it won’t kill you stone dead.
