Wellington Arch - otherwise known as Constitution Arch or Green Park Arch - is that massive arch on the traffic island to the north west of Green Park. Like Marble Arch it was planned in 1825 by George IV to commemorate Britain's victory in the Napoleonic Wars.
In 1912 Edward VII added the Adrian Jones-designed bronze quadriga to the top, and today it is instantly recognisable as one of London's many famous landmarks.
Until 1992 the arch actually housed the second smallest police station in London, but it's now run by English Heritage and is open to the public for a small admission fee.
