Although London Zoo tickets are fairly expensive, a visit to the world's oldest scientific zoo is an awesome day out. London Zoo, located in Regent’s Park, is one of the best urban zoos in the world and with over 10,000 animals, it is a popular London attraction. New features include a massive gorilla 'kingdom' and a rainforest section where you can spy on hundreds of rare species in as close an approximation of a rainforest you can get this side of Brazil.

Going to the zoo is a bit weird. You can't help but feel a bond with the bigger animals, and at the same time, you feel sorry for them. On the other hand, at least they are being preserved and this is a comparatively spacious and evidently well run zoo. There are also hundreds of creatures more accustomed to captivity and even, being petted - most of these are housed in the children's section.

With ‘Meet the animals’ sessions daily and a constant influx of weird new creatures, the zoo is a brilliant place to visit, whether or not you have a young one in tow. It is even a good place for a date, although the smells can break the mood at times.

A London institution and a sure fire way to leave you happy and bemused by the world we live in.
