Owned by English Heritage, Marble Hill House in Twickenham is the last intact survivor of the elegant villas and gardens which bordered the Thames between Richmond and Hampton Court in the 18th century.
A wonderful regency building set in its own 66 acres of riverside parkland, Marble Hill is still home to a fine collection of early Georgian paintings, including portraits of its famous patron Mrs Howard and her circle of friends- perfectly recalling the splendour of Georgian fashionable life.
The summer months see a variety of special events and picnic concerts that feature everything from pop to classical works.
