It may be a cliché, but there are jazz clubs, and there are Jazz Clubs. Ronnie Scott's belongs in the latter group. One member of a very elite international group, the club has been, and remains the best London has to offer in terms of live jazz music. Established by none other than Ronnie himself in 1959, the club has moved venues a couple of times over the years and is now run by the cream of the entertainment business.

Bookings are pretty essential and Ronnie's ain't cheap, but what else can you realistically expect from such a venue, bearing in mind that the equivalents for their genres would be the Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall?
