Jerwood Space opened in 1998 and quickly came to be regarded as one of the capital's prime arts centres. The emphasis of the organisation is to provide rehearsal areas for theatre, dance and performance artists, but a well designed gallery is available for the exhibition of young and emerging artists' works.

Housed in a beautifully refurbished Victorian school, the gallery hosts solo shows of contemporary artists and group exhibitions which showcase specific disciplines.
