The Old Operating Theatre Museum can be found in the attic of St Thomas' Church near London Bridge. This quirky collection of medical antiques and documents is Britain's only surviving 19th Century operating theatre. Stepping back in a time before sterilisation and electronic medical equipment, the theatre was only rediscovered in 1956.
Climbing a narrow spiral staircase, you immediately reach a very cluttered gift shop stacked with dedicated and chatty staff.
You will be amazed by the simple equipment. With a hand written sign saying 'Please touch the exhibits' you'll be able to experience the past through personal touch.
