A small venue that is usually used for the sole pleasure of King’s College students, getting their dance or drink on in between training to become respectable members of the upper echelons of future society.

Swots at the Strand-based university have been supping subsidised pints in this place for nearly a century, and like the best union bars, they run a mean, if occasional, calendar of live music.

The great sound and guaranteed atmosphere make this a popular choice for bands, and secret shows here are excellent experiences. Bizarrely, the main hall is on the fourth floor, which will strike you as quirky, or greatly tiring if you go when the lift is out of service.
