Famous for it’s mention in Dan Brown seminal work ‘The Da Vinci Code’ the temple church has enjoyed a long and illustrious history, dating back to when the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, (or Knights Templar for short) built this imposing structure as both a church and military recruitment and training depot.
Still very much a functioning Anglican Church, its connections with the Order and unusual shape makes it one of London’s favourite tourist attractions. The unique round shape, a copy of the temple on the holy mount, also gives the building a wonderful acoustics.
With one of the most venerable organs in the capital and a reputation that attracts the finest voice choirs, the Temple Church still echoes to the haunting sound of choral music as it did when it was first built almost 800 years ago
