Captivating, but surprisingly small museum housed in an appropriately beautiful modernist structure on the Thames. The Design Museum is all about non verbal communication, economy of materials, ergonomics and creative use of space… but for the vast majority of us, it is simply a collection of beautiful 'I want one!' objects. For this reason, the shop is absolutely deadly and should be avoided at all costs.

On a serious note, it's not all about possessions and product envy, and there are also plenty of pieces of fantastic protest and political art and design.

A seriously fun museum which is diverting, informative and endlessly browse-able. You don't feel like you're learning, you feel like you're shopping, but this place has a message, something akin to the Japanese dictums of beautiful and right living. It rocks.
