Fascinating, inspiring museum set in the actual war rooms constructed to protect Churchill and his cabinet from the blitz. While visiting this temporary air raid shelter Churchill was inspired and declared that 'This is the room from which I will direct the war.'

The great man was probably turned on by the bare walls, copious maps and austere soldierly setting, but his advisors must have been chuffed – he couldn’t have been safer.

Including a dedicated Churchill Museum in one of the rooms, a stirring permanent collection of maps, equipment and documents, and operating a series of special exhibitions, this is a wonderful place to visit for a taste of British grit.
