Now here's a very strange museum for tourists wanting to get that 'I can't believe it's not butter' wow factor. The motto of the house is Aut Visum Aut Non: 'You either See it or you don't'.
The untouched external façade of the house is out of the Dickensian era, next to Spitalfields market. It's namesake, American Dennis Severs, bought the dilapidated property in 1979 and over a period of ten years, recreated each room as a time capsule in the style of former centuries.
Meticulously decorated, the rooms are arranged as if they are in use and the occupants have only just left the room. Call in the authentic noises soundtrack overhead and you have it.
Entry is a little harsh seeing the house is quite small but it's the closest thing you're going to get to time travel.
