Hales Gallery started life in 1992 as an alternative art space and cafe in Deptford. It became a commercial gallery in 1997 and from then has continued to represent a number of high quality international artists.
Its 2004 shift into the Hoxditch culture project, Tea Building, can be accredited to the skills of the owners in nurturing the talents of the most visionary and progressive artists of the past decade. Shows are largely very contemporary, in both a temporal and conceptual sense. Fantastic design and a proper role in the YBA scene of the 90s gives Hales true credibility in the London scene.
