The Montefiore Centre was first created by it's namesake Robert Montefiore as a school. The building has had several name changes such as the Bethnal Green Training Centre, however has always maintained an educational usage.

It is currently being used by various training and educational groups such as the Learn Direct Centre, Poetry In Wood and smaller art classes throughout the week.
