Christie Brinkley trades Uptown for London Town with lead Chicago role.

Uptown Girl Christie Brinkley will soon make her UK stage début, when she steps into the shiny stilettos of Roxie Heart in the West End smash-hit revival of Chicago at London's Cambridge Theatre.

Brinkley, a goldern-era Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model and former wife of rocker Billy Joel, has been treading the boards of Broadway as Roxy since April and this July she'll hop the Atlantic to strut her funky Chicagoan stuff in London.

Brinkley's not exactly a prolific actress, though she did have a small but important role in the classic 1983 comedy film National Lampoon's Vacation, and in its 1997 sequel Vegas Vacation, so that's a 50% success-rate right there.

First staged on Broadway in 1975, Chicago (based on a 1930s play of the same name) has received world-wide critical acclaim, and was the subject of an Academy Award-winning cinematic adaptation in 2002 starring Catherine Zeta Jones, Richard Gere and Rene Zellweger.

Christie Brinkley joins the play, inheriting the role from London theatre mainstay Sarah Soetaert, for a limited four-week run.

Brinkley’s not the only international transplant: her current Chicago co-star Amra-Faye Wright, who plays Velma Kelly, joins her in the London production too.
