'DJ of 2009' Armin van Buuren at Ministry of Sound for The Gallery Xmas Party - Preview

Al Warwick takes an excited peak at the biggest party of the week as everyones favourite Dutchman comes to Ministry this Friday for the Gallery Xmas Party

Whether or not you agree with the recent mainstream heavy list of the worlds best DJ's according to 'DJ Mag' readers, there is no denying that this Friday night at Ministry with the winner Armin van Buuren will offer a pretty special atmosphere if nothing else.

The trancester's style might not appeal to everyone, but after again claiming the top spot of the popular magazine's annual poll for a third straight year, the hype surrounding this one will be nothing short of infectious.

It's a Christmas special too, which means that whilst the ageing superclub may shun any camp décor overhauls or offer little in the way of xmasy themed freebies, there will undoubtedly be an extra jolt of jovial energy dripping from every pore.

The Gallery are thankfully adverse to any sort of 'one man show' policy where the headliner is supported by little else in the way of accompanying talent. The Dutchman will play amongst minimal tech-heads 16 bit Lolitas who, like van Buuren know exactly how to work a crowd and deliver that killer blow time and time again.

Another name which screams at you from the line up here is Gareth Emery who's rapid rise to the forefront has been anything but quiet. His productions have deserved the oft-used term 'revolutionary', such is their seamless quality and almost emotional vibe that will burrow into the very psyche of the countless writhers.

There's other sprinklings of real quality in the roster for this one; David Murtagh and Hilton Caswell are both ultra-dependable whilst resident DJ's don't come any more confident and classy than the Gallery duo of Gavyn Mytchel and The Viceroy.

For those of you who have ever been disappointed by a distant and set from a big name on autopilot will be pleasantly surprised with this one. Similarly if you have yet to taste a slice of a shamelessly bling night out this is for you. Lastly, if you know and love your euphoric trance and hard house then you'll want to nab a ticket to this baby.
