venue Monto Water Rats Wednesday, 29 October
Was there for a Lovers Electric gig. Not very crowded when I went which was a downside. The venue was quite nice, I liked the decor but I thought the price of entry was a little too much (8 pounds!!). Most of the time the dj/lights dude was pretty good, except for when he would shine this really bright white light, which probably would have been a cool effect if it wasn't for the fact that it blinded the audience.

Went to see The Scare play there a while back. Twas an interesting night, as hadn't been to that venue before although it is quite well known. Surprisingly small, thus very intimate. Drinks a little on the costly side (although maybe that's changed--the summary says they're all £3?), but entry was only a fiver so I guess that's okay.

If you like your venues small, intimate, yet grimy, you'll like this place.
venue Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen Wednesday, 29 October
Was here a long time ago for the infamous Boombox, before it was overly popular.

But when I was there, I remember thinking: how have I NOT been there before? It was, simply put, amazing.

The music was perfect--my friend and I spent most of the evening on the highest piece of stage we could find.

The styles were varied, creative, and so effortlessly cool. It was hard not to feel at home amongst such willingness to party and have a good time. I had expected more neon, sorely underestimating the creativity of fashion.

The drinks were a touch on the expensive side, but well worth it. And it being free entry made the deal even sweeter.

My only complaint was that it all finished too early.

As for the venue itself, I don't know how Hoxton grill carries it off. It's smoky and long, there's no cloakroom (argh!!), there's a large window on one end through which we were occasionally blinded by oncoming cars, the dance floor was crowded... but it was perfect. And imagine my surprise when I turned around and saw Kelly Osbourne behind me.

It was so crazy, and wild, and pretty, and unique, it seemed almost like a dream.

I've also heard they do pretty mean food, but I haven't been there during the day.
venue The End Wednesday, 29 October
I've always had the wickedest nights at The End, and am very sorry to see it go. I do plan to get to the AKA bday party if possible!
