It's that time of year again. Prepare yourselves for three days of breaks...

Yes, that time of year has come back around and it's time for breakbeat to have it's day. This is the week to be on it if you believe that breaks deserves some recognition, as London welcomes back Breakspoll to Fabric. Here lies the opportunity to see the best names in the business coming together to celebrate a year of achievements in the form of the International Breakbeat Awards. The formal term 'ceremony' is of course used loosely, taking into consideration that it will be the biggest breaks party of the year.

The calendars of many a breaks DJ will have been marked with this event a long time ago but even if you are not so partial to the genre, Breakspoll is worth taking note of. Thanks to the mixes put out there by recent DJs and producers, even people who don't consider themselves fans can get down to a mash up or two, and Breakspoll is guaranteed to be packed to the rafters with them.

It has always been a success amongst those involved, which led to the extension of an after party at Matter last year. But now the pre-empt has spread even further, so if you've got a spare three days to dedicate to the cause, here's the best way to do it:-

PreBreakspoll Gathering at The White House, Clapham. Wednesday 24 February (19:00-03:00)

This event is not affiliated with Breakspoll specifically but describes itself more as a gathering of sorts to reflect on the past year. Even though it does not bare any official link to the awards, this event at The White House is well worth attending because there will be a host DJs and producers ready to chat about forthcoming exclusives and reminisce over old skool classics. Plus it's free!

If you're not already, by the end of this evening you will be well and truly clued up.

Breakspoll 2010 International Breakbeat Awards at Fabric. Thursday 25 February (21:00-06:00)

The awards ceremony itself could never be held anywhere but Fabric. Breaks goes hand-in-hand with this classic London venue, and anyone who considers themselves a fan of the genre will have most likely been to a night here at one time or another.

There are over 20 DJs taking part in the awards, including Afghan Headspin, Beat Assasins, CTRL-Z and NAPT, to name a few. Krafty Kuts and A.Skillz have also announced they will be playing a 4-deck set together, and you can be sure to expect more celebratory surprises from the other DJs involved on the night.

Stanton Sessions presents The Breakspoll After Party at Matter. Friday 26 February (22:00-06:00)

The Stanton Warriors are almighty figures in the world of breaks so there is no better act to host the after party, at their home turf Matter. If last year is anything to go by, the exciting atmosphere will still be in motion from the night before so you can expect the night to fly by in a flurry of tear-out euphoria.

So there you have it. It is up to you now to make up your own mind about breaks and whether or not it deserves to make a come back. Either way, it is highly likely you will have an unforgettable time deciding.
