Herve: The Interview

Amanda Gegg talks shop with the The Count.

Whether you know him as ‘The Count’ (alongside Sinden…i.e ‘The Count and Sinden’), ‘Speaker Junk’ or as himself; there is no denying that Herve has gone from strength to strength since he first appeared on our radar a few years ago. Now, with his name cropping up on the most stellar line-ups around and various EP and album releases on the go, we have a brief chat with the man himself to see how on earth he does it…

Things must be very hectic with the release of ‘Mega Mega Mega’ which we've all been very excited about. How would you best sum up the feel of the album?

We call it global bass, which is just a phrase we've come up with doing all the interviews. It’s British electronic music with influences from exciting music from around the world.

Any favourite tracks?

I’d have to say 'Afterdark' and 'llamame'.

You’re an inspiration to us all for managing this much on your plate at once! What’s your secret?

Well I work a lot – five days a week, every week, and I love it. I’ve been doing it for a while so I know what I’m doing and where everything is in the studio. I’m good at making decisions, which I feel is vital to keep work rate and creativity up. But mainly I just love writing songs/tracks/music!

What do you think the next year will hold in store for The Count and Sinden?

Lots of gigs and festivals I hope, more singles from the album with exciting new people remixing them and probably some underground EP/single releases through summer. We should be started on the new album sometime early next year too.

And for Herve?!

I’m currently working on my first ever Herve album and I’m super excited about the stuff I’m doing. I’m writing a lot of tracks so I can narrow it down to only the best ones and, like The Count and Sinden album, make it an album that works overall as an experience. Once this is out the way I can work on some other projects I’ve had on the back burner for a while.

Look out for double CD Cheap Thrills Volume 2 in early October – loadsa great exclusives on there.

Amazing stuff. Thanks so much Herve, keep up the good work!
