Created in 1992, it seems like an age since we first heard of Ram Records. It was a young Andy C who thought it was time for a grimier edge to hit the scene. From this point onwards, the nineties got darker and sub bass lines got heavier. For this, we are all very grateful. Now here we are; almost twenty years later and the excitement still continues.
Friday 5th February is the first birthday of Ram at Matter which, over the past year, has seen one of the biggest drum 'n' bass nights form an alliance with one of the best clubs in London. It seems that Ram, as an event, is unstoppable with all of its nights at Matter guaranteed to sell out, even up to a month before. Note to selves: get in there early.
As a birthday treat the 'People's Champion' Andy C will be celebrating with a 3 hour set, commencing the ram jam with a mix of sub heavy, grime-ridden tracks from past and present. Freshly returned from his world tour, the people lucky enough to have a ticket to this event can expect one of the 'Executioner's' most explosive sets to date.
Supporting him through the night will be Ram-signed protegees Chase and Status, who will mix it up with their usual drum 'n' bass/dubstep combo, which the crowd will almost certainly love. Also, Andy C's good mate DJ Hype will be there to oversee the festivities. Even though he is not actually a part of Ram, he will make sure that the party goes off with some classic DnB. The list of other DJs and MCs seems almost endless but we can guarantee that there will be at least one you haven't heard of that will catch your eye on the night. Oh, the joys of Ram... Andy C, we love you.
