The Brazilian martial art Capoeira really lives up to its name: difficult, but so beautiful. Come into the class with an open mind and be pleasantly surprised with a warm welcome and an entertaining two hours. Any nervousness will be put to rest by the calming atmosphere on arrival, as well as the kind, and VERY patient instructors, which combine to make you feel instantly at ease and comfortable.

Not for the faint of heart (or breath), Capoeira is a strenuous martial art and dance combination that involves the entire body. Flexibility, strength, grace, and interaction with a partner are the main focuses. Both male and female participants are encouraged to move their bodies in creative ways, almost making two partners seem as one.

You’ll learn two parts to a set sequence of movements, giving you a great idea as to what could come about if you chose to stick with it! To excel in Capoeira, you must be able to respect, see and be influenced by your opponent's movements, and react to them in your own unique way.

Expect to be challenged both physically and mentally throughout the session, as you must link what you have learned together with your creativity near the end of the session, sparring against another. Daunting as it sounds, it's actually quite fun to be put in the swing of things on your first session, really making you feel like you've taken something away from the class.

If you're up for a challenge and something new, Capoeira certainly fits the bill.  Just make sure you pack some water and light clothing in your bag, you'll need it!
