With four themed rooms, a lively crowd and dance showcases that put Shakira to shame this salsa fiesta is a must for anyone wanting to perfect their mambo, or simply learn some basic moves.
To avoid being awkwardly steered around the dance floor a la Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing it's advisable to arrive early and pick up some steps in the all-level salsa and lambada classes that run before the club night kicks in. Beginners and experts alike can sashay along to salsa flavoured rhythms, and there's no need to turn up with a plus one – partner swapping is the name of the game.
Once the lessons are over you can put your new skills to the test as there's no shortage of singletons waiting to twirl, dip and spin you across the floor. This isn't as terrifying as it sounds and you'll have a lot of fun if you throw yourself into things. It's even pretty good exercise.
If all the spinning and wiggling leaves you breathless and dizzy the Glass Bar upstairs is the perfect place to chill out. You can watch the gyrating masses show off in the main room below, whilst listening to some less traditional Latino beats. Think Daddy Yankee (of the 'Gasolina' song fame) mixed in with a bit of Sean Paul and anything else plucked from the Save the Last Dance soundtrack, and you’re almost there.
Be warned – drinks prices are about as inflated as some of the dancer's egos and getting spannered on too many mojitos isn't a wise plan if you want to maintain any kind of grace on the dance floor. As well as the glitter clad professionals showcasing their fancy footwork on stage there were also some pretty talented individuals in the crowd, and they were out to impress.
Anything goes as far as dress is concerned – there's no need to turn up in your new sparkly leotard although people probably wouldn’t blink if you did.
