Win a Pair of Tickets to a Live Screening of All's Well That Ends Well
15 September, 2009
by: Competition
In June 2009 the National Theatre became the first theatre in the world to broadcast its plays live onto cinema screens around the world with its production of Jean Racine’s Phèdre starring Helen Mirren, which was watched by over 50,000 people around the world.
Following the success of Phèdre, the NT Live season continues with an enchanting production of Shakespeare’s All’s Well That Ends Well on Thursday 1 October.
The feisty but lowly Helena loves Bertram, a haughty count. To gain his hand she is set a string of impossible tasks. Even if accomplished, they can hardly guarantee his love. He refuses to bed her and yet says he’ll only be hers if she bears his child; and he lusts after another. Nevertheless, our heroine, whether wisely or no, refuses to give him up. A wondrous, bittersweet story that turns fairytale logic on its head.
