Win a pair of tickets to the opening press night of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea at The Vault, Southwark Playhouse on Friday 28 October

John Patrick Shanley, the Oscar-winning writer behind Moonstruck (that utterly awesome Cher/Nicolas Cage film) and Pulitzer-prize winning playwright of Doubt (which he also turned into a film), is being honoured with a revival of one of his early plays, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, at Southwark Playhouse.
Directed by Ché Walker, the man behind the Playhouse production of Iphegenia and Been So Long (staged at the Royal Court and Young Vic), Danny and the Deep Blue Sea is the story of Danny, a trucker who people call The Beast. He meets Roberta, a troubled young mother with a teenage son that her parents must now raise.
Danny and the Deep Blue Sea is a romantic two-hander about two of society’s loneliest rejects who meet in a bar, butt heads and egos in the Bronx, before discovering that there is a space for love in their lives, even if it’s a dangerous and messy love.
