Rosencrantz and Guildenstern

In this absurdist existential parody, Tom Stoppard explores Hamlet through two of its minor characters. Their hilarious misunderstanding of events show that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are only vaguely aware that they are small parts in a bigger story, which is beyond their grasp.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is often hailed as Stoppard's first masterpiece for its scintillating dialogue and sheer inventiveness. Samuel Barnett and Jamie Parker, both of History Boys fame, play the leads.
