Horace Andy’s status as a living music legend has long been sealed in the reggae world. Having lent his silky soulful voice to every one of Massive Attacks studio albums thus far he deservedly achieved mainstream recognition, highlighted by the remake of his 'You Are My Angel' song for the Mezzanine album.
Tonight's gig is divided into 2 sets, 1st set including material from Andy's new album with Ashley Beedle (on DJ and percussion duties) and 2nd set performed with his 7 piece Dub Asante band jamming out many a classic from Andy's extensive back catalogue.

Performing tracks from the newly released 'Inspiration information' accompanied by a guitarist and keyboard player, the slightly bizarre sight of Andy reading lyrics from an onstage sheet music stand made for an initially awkward yet amusing spectacle. However with the band and the ever-charismatic Andy on form, the feel good experimental nature of the material silences any audience shouts for renditions of Andy's hits, and gets the crowd onside.
After a short break, the Dub Asante band take the stage and launch into a funky dubbed out Trombone led jam - the signal for the start of act 2. For over two hours, Andy leads the impeccably tight band, and a very appreciate packed-out Jazz Café on a trip through his career. From the early days of Studio 1 roots classics such as the crowd favourite 'Skylarking' to the 'Hymn of the Big Wheel' from Massive Attacks seminal Blue Lines album, Andy's sweet distinctive vocal tones effortlessly glide above the music.

Maintaining his energetic dancing and magnetic stage presence throughout the three hours he's onstage, Andy provides a masterful lesson, giving the audience a proper show that will live long in the memory.
