Underground hip-hop rejoice! the West Coast's finest are coming to East London

Underground hip hop crowds have always been a hard bunch to please, but they'll be salivating at this prospect. Two of the finest MCs on the scene are set to rock the intimate surroundings of the Rhythm Factory, as La Coka Nostra play the show all of the capital’s hip hop heads have all been waiting for.
Rising from the ashes of seminal underground group Non Phixion, rapper/producer Ill Bill has risen to be one of New York’s most prominent underground hip hop icons. Having released two solo albums including the much delayed and eagerly anticipated ‘Hour Of Reprisal’ in late 2008 to widespread praise from the rap community and critics alike, he formed supergroup La Coka Nostra in 2006 with the members of legendary Bostonian crew House Of Pain and tonight’s co-headliner rapper/actor Slaine.
With a large, loyal fan base built from nearly 20 years in the business between all members, La Coka Nostra have built a formidable line-up of creative talent and pooled their resources to stunning effect with the release of their debut album 'A Brand You Can Trust' in 2009.
Slaine, on the other hand, has been making waves in the hip hop world for a while now, both as a solo rapper and as part of groups La Coka Nostra and Special Teamz which hail from his hometown Boston. He also added another string to his bow recently in the form of an acting debut in a 2007 Ben Affleck directed film Gone Baby Gone and another role in the pipeline for Affleck’s second directorial effort The Town, due out later this year.
Bill and Slaine make for an uncompromising duo onstage and in the studio. Covering ground from drugs to government corruption, astute social commentary and everything in between in their lyrics, they deliver straight-up rhymes with intelligence and righteous passion. No doubt the levels will soar once classic material such as the dark humour of La Coka Nostra’s 'Fuck Tony Montana', Bill’s DJ Premier-produced solo hit 'Society is brainwashed', and Slaine’s conceptual drug masterpiece 'Citizen Caine' are spun by former Non Phixion DJ and current Sirius/XM Satellite radio host DJ Eclipse.
Once Bill, Slaine and Eclipse take to the stage to prove that the genre is just fine without the autotune or annoying ring tones, it will be like classic ‘90s hip-hop never left.
