Shaun Cronin gets ready for a funky reggae party

The legendary Little Blue Planet party makes a welcome return to Passing Clouds this month for yet another funky night of reggae, electro swing, and live African music. Word of Passing Clouds reputation for supplying good time party vibes and innovative music from around the world continues to spread further and wider a field with each passing day and this line-up is no exception.

Planet Man and The Internationalz headline tonight’s entertainment, bringing forth their unique brand of soulful, uplifting funky reggae to the stage. Their ‘The Truth’ E.P, recently released through Plantman’s own record label “Little Ball Blue Records”, was warmly received and promises a bright future ahead. Their emphasis on hypnotic grooves and conscious lyrics has seen their live show win them plenty of friends on the live/festival circuit, recent performances at Glastonbury and Secret Garden Party in particular have helped build a solid growing fan base.

Also on the bill is Senegalese singer Aynoobe Diop who will be celebrating his birthday on the night itself. Aynoobe is one of Africa’s rising music stars, who was recently honoured with a live session  on the BBC World Service. Mixing traditional African instruments with modern instruments – Diop has created a modern sound that simultaneously upholds the spirit of the country he grew up in that is melodic enough to appeal to a western audience.

Joining the party downstairs will be top vinyl selecta DJ Koichi Sakai who will be spinning dance hall/reggae tunes from his extensive collection.  He’ll be accompanied on mic duties by original dub rave mc Clapper Priest.

As you’ve probably figured by now, the downstairs section of Passing Clouds will be all about the electro pop, but fortunately for anyone feeling a little bit overloaded, the action upstairs will be focused on the electro-swing.  Hosted by Flight Commander, expect some outlandishly hot dancing all night long! The swinging talents of Future Swing - a three piece electro swing group featuring a producer, DJ and a man brandishing a clarinet will be bringing their good time, dance floor ready tunes to the table. So bring your dance shoes and  be ready to shake your rump to the funk till the break of dawn.

Little Blue Planet starts at 8.
