Every Monday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Dom Haley selects his top three gigs.

Wednesday 3rd February
Surfer Blood – Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen
We’re not really sure how it has happened, but surf rock seems to be making a strong case for being the ‘sound’ of 2010. One of the bands riding the wave are Florida’s Surfer Blood, who take an all together more muscular, yet no less dreamy approach than bands like Girls and The Drums. Think Wavves jamming with Cheap Trick over a big bag of skunk.
Wednesday 3rd February
Tristram – The Social West End
A guy who we first discovered playing lap-steal for Lofty Heights, Tristram is in our opinion one of the great white hopes for London’s over-crowded folk scene. Playing accordion-laden, vaudeville ballads, his voice display a remarkable fragility that adds a strange sense of foreboding to his otherwise hopeful songs.
Thursday 4th February
Trash Kit – Windmill
A band that have been gaining some notoriety around East London thanks mainly to support slots with MEN and The Vivian Girls, Trash Kit is two Rachels and a Ross who make polyrhymical funk punk, which throws up tribal drum beats coupled to fidgety no-wave bass lines and weird art-house rants.
