Editor's Choice - Live Music

27 August, 2010
by: Domzig

Every Monday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Dom Haley selects his top three gigs.

Wednesday 1st September

Women @ Cargo

Sounding a bit like both Animal Collective and the Vivian Girls, Women make faintly psychedelic shoegazey landscapes that seem to capture the essence of early Pink Floyd and serve it up as beardy Canadian indie rock.

Women - 'Eyesore' by nmemagazine

Thursday 2nd September
Lovvers @ Bull and Gate

Lovvers were invented for all of us who feel a little left out by the fact that The Dead Boys split up way before you were born. Playing punchy garage rock like it ain’t no thing, their gigs give you a chance to go nuts in a tiny little pub like you're a bunch of rough-neck punks back in 77.

Lovvers - Strangers by Wichita Recordings

Saturday 2nd September
Hey Colossus @ Old Blue Last

On the face of it, Hey Coloussus are just your typical stoner metal ability. But when you filter in their habit to slip into motorik movements that sound like NEU! at their most hypnotic, they become probably the best damn metal band in the British Isles.
