Dom Haley selects his top three gigs for the week ahead

Tuesday 7th June

Phosphorescent @ Heaven

Phosphorescent has always caused a storm whenever he plays Europe. Comparisons to Bob Dylan and Will Oldham are most common, but even the Evening Standard seems to go weak at knees whenever he comes to town, famously declaring him "the most significant American in his field since Kurt Cobain". It doesn't get more gushing than that, believe us.

Wednesday 8th June
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart @ The Electric Ballroom

Borrowing a leaf out of the North American lo-fi indie rock movement, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart sound  and look like Ride meeting Sonic Youth, making them serious contenders in the coolest guitar band ever category.

The Pains of Being Pure At Heart - The One by Slumberland Records

Saturday 11th June
Chapter Sweetheart @ Old Blue Last

Sounding like the Nation of Uylsses meeting James Chance and the Contortionists, Chapter Sweetheart have been like a breath of fresh air through the London post punk scene in recent months.
