Dom Haley selects his top three gigs for the week ahead

Tuesday 17th April

Holograms @ The Old Blue Last

Holograms - ABC City by H+ Records

Harkening back to the pioneering synth pop of Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle, Holograms' sound distils the drudgery of dismal existence with a lust for something better; echoing both the violent abandonment of punk as well as some of the electronic gloss of early 80′s new wave.

Wednesday 18th April
Oberhofer @ CAMP

Away FRM U by Oberhofer

Beginning as the basement indie project of New Yorker Bradley Oberhofer, Oberhofer has evolved into a remarkably assured chamber pop outfit who manage to combine Wavves-like lo-fi rattle with soaring orchestral flourishes.

Friday 20th April
Dignan Porch @ The Wilmington Arms

Like it was again by Dignan Porch

One of the most musically interesting bands to emerge from the lo-fi explosion of a couple of years back, Dignan Porch almost come-across like a C86 version of Neu, brilliantly combining melancholy indie rock with eerie, haunting synth lines.
