Dom Haley selects his top three gigs for the week ahead

Tuesday 26th July

YACHT @ Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen

One of the dudes who made DFA records the coolest thing to come out of the noughties, YACHT create precisely programmed digital ear candy, which is basically incredibly fun, smart-arsed dance music to me and you.

Thursday 28th July
The History of Apple Pie @ Old Blue Last

Cynical people may bitch and moan about it, but there is no denying that a grunge-revival seems to be taking hold over in the East End. Despite being lumped in with it, The History of Apple Pie make music that is more like a fuzzy medley of Pavement, Blur and Dinosaur Jr, rather a straight rip off of L7.

Saturday 30th July
Fear of Men @ The Stag’s Head

The latest band to be enjoying the love of the shoegaze hype machine, Brighton/London four-piece Fear of Men may not be pushing the envelope that far, but you have to admit that their joyously lo-fi indie pop makes you feel a little fuzzy inside.
