Tired of singing into your hairbrush whilst staring at the mirror? Desperate to showcase your vocal talent but too cool for the traditional cheesy sing-along?  If getting down in a club is more your style then we suggest Breaking the Ice Karaoke at Favela Chic, every Wednesday, with a wide selection of hip hop and R&B classics to choose from.

This free, mid week session gets you hyped for the upcoming weekend with all attendants either nervous with anticipation or excited for what's ahead.  The bar has a real another-world cultural feel, and great finger food – worth a peek in its own right.

The musical interlude kicks off after 8pm, but we would advise all you wannabes and chums to get there before in order to grab seat, a pint of Dutch courage and prime viewing position.

Simply put your Diva or MC name and song choice on a bit of paper then anxiously await your fate.  The audience is banned from booing you brave hearts who decide to take part.  You can therefore suck as hard as you want to, and still come out feeling like you've won an MTV Award! Result!

Prizes, let's not forget the prizes. There are first, second and third prizes up for grabs, which include hair care products and champagne, though I think the best prize of all is who receives the loudest applause! So there's also glory on offer…

After the main event, some of London's latest up and coming talent takes to the stage and puts on a genuine show – a treat for the ears after all those amateurs.

The whole experience definitely tests your ear drums. If high pitched shrieking and off-pitch melodies irritate you, give this night a swerve.  If however you are game for a laugh and enjoy having a sing-along, minus the cheese, why not let loose the Beyonce or Jay Z inside you and get up and give it a go. Holla!
