Every Friday, our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week to come. Emma McAlpine selects her top three gigs.

Thursday 7th July
BBQ previews with Joe Wilkinson and Ben Target @ Invisible Dot

There's only one thing better than a night of stand-up comedy, and that's a night of stand-up comedy with a free BBQ during the interval. This summer, the marvellous Invisible Dot production company is once again putting on their patented Edinburgh preview BBQs, starting off with a double bill from left-field stand up Joe Wilkinson and joint winner of the 2011 Leicester Mercury Comedian Of The Year title, Ben Target.

Saturday 9th July
Arthur Smith's Pissed-Up Chat Show @ Udderbelly

Fringe veteran Arthur Smith warms up for his new Edinburgh show, where you the audience get pissed (watch out he will be breathalysing you to check) while  he stays sober. Will it be a hilarious journey into the dark night of the soul? An exhibition of outrage? A mawkish anecdote that makes no sense? In vino veritas goes the trial.

Sunday 10th July
Humour & Rights
@ Comedy Theatre

Human Rights charity Reprieve have yet again secured another belting line-up for their annual comedy fundraiser. Held in the West End Comedy Theatre, the show will include performances from Irish favourite Ed Byrne, topical wit Alistair Barrie, Royal Variety Performance star Hal Cruttenden, comedy rapper Doc Brown, sassy Iranian Shappi Khorsandi, Stand Up For The Week star Andi Osho, the razor-sharp Nick Revell and Perrier nominee Dan Antopolski.
