Casual Violence, Steve Hughes and the Roffle Club: Editor's Choice - Comedy

by: Emma

Every Friday, our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Emma McAlpine selects her top three gigs.

Monday 30th January

Casual Violence Portable Residency @ Hen and Chickens

Following the success of their children's story themed nights, Not Now, Bernard in 2011, inventive sketch duo Casual Violence have come up with another interesting concept this year, an ever-changing, travelling comedy club. Each month will see new acts, new themes and new venues, with house bands, residents and loyalty cards. This month's show features top character act Colin Hoult, award-winning sketch trio Pappy's and the misleadingly titled quartet, The Three Englishmen.

Friday 3rd-Saturday 4th February
Steve Hughes @ Leicester Square Theatre

Inimitable Australian comic and ex-heavy metal drummer, Steve Hughes' tour lands in London this weekend. Star of Stand Up For The Week (CH4) & One Night Stand (Dave), you can expect intelligent, straight-talking social commentary from this guy.

Sunday 5th February
The Roffle Club @ The Lounge  (LST)

The Roffle Club has another corker of a line-up this month, with Cardigan-toting sketch heroes Clever Peter, Edinburgh Best Newcomer nominee 2011 Cariad Lloyd, acclaimed sketch group The Three Englishmen and the hairy, shouty Nick Helm. All hosted by 2011 Edinburgh Panel Prize winners Max & Ivan.
