Every Monday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Emma McAlpine selects her top three comedy nights.

Wednesday 29th September
Sketchercise at Ginglik

Held in trendy Shepherd's Bush bunker Ginglik, Sketchercise is one of London's best sketch and character comedy nights. Tonight's line-up includes genius character comic Colin Hoult, inventive sketch duo Cardinal Burns, 2009 Edinburgh Award nominee Pippa Evans as booze-addled rock star Loretta Maine and up-and-coming sketch collective Broken Biscuits.

Thursday 30th September-Tuesday 5th October

Alun Cochrane @ Soho Theatre

After getting heckled to 'tell some jokes' last year, Alun Cochrane has decided to abandon his  whimsical storytelling approach and work on some proper gags. But can gags really be as funny as real life? You decide, as the gentle Yorkshireman blends anecdotes and sharp observations about 3D films, testicles and divorces with some new one-liners (look out for the one about mittens - he's particularly happy with that one).

Saturday 2nd October
Saturday Night Fulchfest @ Bull and Gate

Mighty Boosh and Snuff Box star Rich Fulcher hosts a brand new irreverant comedy night at The Bull and Gate in Kentish Town.  As well as accumulating some unusual and top-quality stand-ups, the show will regularly feature sketches from The Rich Fulcher Players (a select band of comedy mavericks) and each Fulchfest will close with a set from an up-and-coming band. Tonight's special launch show includes fellow Boosh star Steve Oram, hilariously bonkers character Brian Gittins, well-travelled stand-up Arnab Chanda, the Amazing Crakow and new band Trash Money. A refreshing change from London's more commercialised Saturday night comedy scene.
