Editor's Choice - Comedy

by: Emma

Every Monday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Emma McAlpine selects her top three comedy nights.

Monday 8th November
Old Rope @ The Phoenix

Old Rope always have consistently good line-ups, with top comedians abandoning their safety net and trying out new material. This week's bill features brilliant ventriloquist Nina Conti, amusing ranter Robin Ince, sassy Iranian stand-up Shappi Khorsandi and the experimental Paul Foot.

Saturday 13th November
Brendon Burns @ Bloomsbury Theatre

Another year, another 'give a crap' show title from Aussie powerhouse Brendon Burns.
Y'Know - Love'n'God'n'Metaphysics'n'Shit
sees Burns explore subjects like atheism, paedophile jokes and true love from an unexpected angle, showing there's a lot more to this outspoken Aussie than meets the eye. Smart, thoughtful and ultimately funny stuff from the 2007 Edinburgh Comedy Award winner.

Saturday 13th November
Knock2Bag @ The Tabernacle

Knock2Bag now has a barnstorming Saturday night gig in Notting Hill's iconic Tabernacle building. Tonight's show has a typically awesome line-up, headed by one of our favourite acts from this year's Edinburgh Fringe, the mime wonder that is Boy With Tape on His Face. Supporting him will be freewheeling nutcase Phil Kay, offbeat musical act Robert White, winner of the Chortle Student Award 2010 Phil Wang and Hackney Empire New Act of the Year winner 2009 Fergus Craig.
