Every Monday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Emma McAlpine selects her top three comedy nights.

Tuesday 11th-Saturday 22nd Jan
Jonny Sweet @ Soho Theatre
One of the best shows at the Fringe this year and almost certainly the best show about naval brigates, Edinburgh Best Newcomer 2009, Jonny Sweet brings his critically lauded show to the Soho Theatre this month for a two week run. Expect a rip-roaring lecture (complete with PowerPoint presentation and delivered in customary gauche fashion) about the recently decommissioned Royal Navy destroyer, the HMS Nottingham.
Tuesday 11th January
Jackson's Way @ Canal Cafe Theatre
Character comedian Will Adamsdale first rose to prominence at the Edinburgh Fringe back in 2004 when he won the Perrier award for his parody of American motivational speakers, as personified by his character Chris John Jackson. Now Jackson's back, for a marathon (or Jacksathon) tour of 26 London venues in 26 days, including this Tuesday at the Canal Cafe Theatre. Wonderful, silly nonsense.
Wednesday 12th-Saturday 15th January
Edward Aczel @ Soho Theatre
Award-winning anti-comic Edward Aczel presents his new show Ever Tried. Ever Failed. No Matter. Try Again. Fail Again. Fail Better. Following up from his sell-out run at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe, the show begins with SWOT analysis to single-out audience threats, before moving effortfully onto Aczel discussing the career paths he wishes he'd taken (rock star, ambassador, accountant, monk), reaching its climax with a Politics Q&A session.
