Editor's Choice - Comedy

14 February, 2011
by: Emma

Every Monday, our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Emma McAlpine selects her top three comedy nights.

Monday 14th February
Celebrity Autobiography
@ Leicester Square Theatre

Created by Emmy award nominated writer-performer Eugene Pack and Dayle Reyfel, Celebrity Autobiography follows a sell-out three-year run on Broadway and the Edinburgh Fringe, where a rolling set of comedians read extracts from real celebrities' memoirs. The first gig is particularly special: Sally Phillips, Doon Mackichan and Fiona Allen (AKA the Smack the Pony ladies) are reuniting for the first time in nine years  to read you exerpts from the stormy love life of Burt Reynolds; not to mention Tommy Lee's  shocking 'romance tips' and details on the most famous Hollywood love triangle in history: Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher.

Thursday 17th February
Times+Live Comedy @ Wilton's Music Hall

Times+ returns to Wilton's Music Hall for a second night of live comedy this week with a host of award-winning acts, headed by the darkly funny triple Eddie award nominee Andrew Lawrence. Supporting him will be Edinburgh 'Best Newcomer' winner 2010 Roisin Conaty, rising star Daniel Sloss and then 2009 English Comedian Of The Year Matthew Osborn. Hosted by genial stand-up Carl Donnelly.

Tuesday 15th February

Laugh @ Ginglik

Laugh presents some of the best and brightest comedians on the circuit on fortnightly Tuesdays, held in Ginglik's funky basement. This Tuesday, expect Irish stand-up Andrew Maxwell, Sun journalist and Chortle student award winner Tommy Holgate and rising star Diane Spencer.
