Editor's Choice - Comedy

Every Friday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week to come...

Tuesday 29th March - Friday 1st April
Doug Stanhope
@ Leicester Square Theatre

He's back. Having been on the road for 20 years, the raging, no-holds-barred stand-up is marking the occasion with a tour of the UK, stopping for four nights at the Leicester Square Theatre.  Stanhope himself describes his act as 'fetish'; a kind of comedy that's been beaten until it's both black and blue. It's wrong, it's sick, but you're getting a kick out of it at the same time.

Wednesday 30th March
War on Want
@ Shepherd's Bush Empire

War on Want presents a stellar line-up of comics for this quality charity bash at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, including Comedy Vehicle star Stewart Lee, sarcastic Irishman Sean Hughes, Let's Dance winner 2011 Charlie Baker, quirky musical comedian Isy Suttie, Edinburgh award nominees Idiots of Ants and more.

Friday 1st April
The Return of Boothby Graffoe @ Bull and Gate

We do wish Boothby Graffoe would play in London a little bit more frequently but at least it means we can get completely overexcited when a gig is announced. On April Fools' Day, the surrealist songwriter will be performing as part of his UK tour at King's Place concert hall, playing songs from his latest album Songs For Dog's Funerals as well as plenty of old classics.  Backed by multi-instrumentalist Nick Pynn this is a rare opportunity to see a true British comedy legend.
