Every Friday, our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Emma McAlpine selects her top three gigs.

Tuesday 1st May-Saturday 12th May

Hannibal Buress at Soho Theatre
Rightly nominated for the Edinburgh 'Best Newcomer' Award last year, US comic and former 30 Rock writer Hannibal Buress brings his critcally-acclaimed Fringe show to London. Dubbed a 'black Mitch Hedberg' in America for his lo-fi delivery, absurdist logic and twisted observations, it's not hard to see why he's been the talk of the Edinburgh, Montreal and Melbourne Festivals. Catch him while he's in town - you won't regret it.

Tuesday 2nd May

War on Want at Shepherd's Bush Empire
One of the biggest charity comedy gigs of the year, War on Want presents another stellar line-up for 2012 with top class comedians including: comedy rock god Tim Minchin, Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year winner Seann Walsh, cabaret musical duo Frisky & Mannish; Infinite Monkey Cage creator Robin Ince; Stand Up for The Week's Andi Osho, comedy rapper Doc Brown; ace topical stand-up Alistair Barrie; Royal Variety star and Perrier nominee Hal Cruttenden; Nighty Night and Hot Fuzz comic actor Kevin Eldon; and stand-up newcomer Graham Wilde. Holy Mackerel!

Saturday 5th May -Sunday 7th May
