Feel like laughing instead of queuing this New Year's Eve? Check out Spoonfed's list of the top 5 comedy parties for £30 or under.

New Year’s gigs can be a total rip-off and none more so than the Comedy New Year’s Eve Party. ‘The circuit's best stand-ups’ (i.e. anyone with kids to feed and no party to go to) + ‘free buffet’ (sausage roll) + ‘post-show disco’ (Best of the Noughties CD) = £50. But if you do a bit of digging, you'll find that there are some on offer with excellent comics that don’t cost the earth. Here is a list of our top 5 for £30 or under.
Chuckle Club @ Albany
£30
Addy Van der Borgh, Patrick Monahan, Simon Munnery, Don Biswas, Amadeus Martin.
For New Year's Eve, the Chuckle Club are throwing a special party in Great Portland Street's Albany pub theatre, featuring stand-up from alternative legend Simon Munnery, the funniest Irish-Iranian comic we know - Patrick Monahan and more, plus dinner and music thrown in too.
Hampstead Comedy's No Rip-Off New Year's Eve @ The Pembroke
£15
Robert White, Ivor Dembina, Trevor Crook, Otiz Canelloni
Promoter Ivor Dembina seems to share our views on New Year and has decided to buck the trend, booking a fine line-up of comics including Malcolm Hardee award winner 2010 Robert White and delightfully bonkers magician Otiz Cannelloni, with pub price drinks, a late bar and no gimmicky extras added on to the price, all for £15. Happy New Year Ivor!
Covent Garden Club NYE @ The Arches
£30
Craig Campbell, Hal Cruttenden, Rob Deering, Rich Wilson
Covent Garden Comedy pull out all the stops for their NYE show and not suprisingly, it normally sells out. As well as putting on a quality bill this year, including the effortlessly witty Hal Cruttenden and top Canadian stand-up Craig Campbell, there will be a balloon-filled party after the show with a DJ, a free gift bag of goodies on arrival and as many crisps, nuts, sweets and chocolate handed out during the show.
The Bearcat Club NYE show @ The Turk's Head
£27
Milton Jones, Ian Stone, Mike Gunn
This popular Twickenham comedy club always has good comics on board and New Year's Eve is no exception as excellent gagsmith Milton Jones, the topical Ian Stone and the bone-dry Mike Gunn take to the stage.
The Comedy Tree @ Wahoo Sports Bar and Grill
£25
Scott Capurro, Imran Yusuf, Geoff Norcott, Bryan Lacey
Over in Putney, the Comedy Tree has a suitably special line-up to laugh you into 2011. Making an appearance will be Edinburgh Best Newcomer nominee Imran Yusuf and sharp-tongued San Franciscan Scott Capurro.
If money is no option...
The Comedy Store is always a safe bet for New Year and has seven top class stand-ups booked with the usual Big Ben TV countdown planned. Bill Bailey has kids to feed like everyone else and will be performing his wonderful Dandelion Mind show (read our review here) at Wyndhams Theatre at the slightly earlier slot of 7pm so you can even squeeze in a party afterwards.
