by: Emma
Every Friday, our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Comedy Editor Emma McAlpine selects her top three gigs.
Monday 26th September-Saturday 1st October
Doctor Brown @ Soho Theatre
If you haven't managed to get a ticket for QI star Alan Davies' first stand-up show in a decade, why not check out Doctor Brown at the Soho Theatre? Master of the surreal and absurd, his new Edinburgh show is on there next week and is well worth checking out. Like comedy Marmite, audience will either love or hate this oddball. The Dali of comedy, his style is equal parts mime, physical clowning, nonsense and nudity. What more could you want in a comedy gig?
Tues 27th-Thurs 29th SeptemberMichael Legge: Curse Sir Walter Raleigh @ Leicester Square Theatre Basement
More Edinburgh goodies are on offer this week. Award-winning comedian Michael Legge is obsessed with good manners. Join him for an hour while he basically has a big shouty tantrum about YOUR rudeness. Sex in the 16th century, shouting at a girl in a wheelchair and deaf choreography, all in one hour.
Wednesday 28th SeptemberPaul Zerdin @ Leicester Square Theatre
One of the UK's leading ventriloquists Paul Zerdin brings his hit 2009 show Sponge Fest to Leciester Square Theatre as part of a national tour. Zerdin's combination of charm, spot on timing and hilarious crowd play have seen him sell-out his last two Fringe runs and gain more than 3 million hits on YouTube. Returning to the capital this week with Sam, Albert, Baby and a few new tricks up his sleeve, there are only a few tickets left for this gig so get 'em quick!
