Every Friday, our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Emma McAlpine selects her top three gigs.

Thursday 8th December
PLEB Talks Live @ Secret Location

After a hugely successful launch gig with a sell-out crowd turning up to a secret central location, the "world's only live comedy think tank" PLEB Talks returns with another excellent line-up. Speakers include The Mighty Boosh's Rich Fulcher, The Penny Dreadfuls' Thom Tuck, brilliantly quirky new comic Lou Sanders and Gareth Morinan ( star of Ricky Gervais' new sitcom Life's Too Short). Discussing protests, poverty, riots and recessions, all speakers will be presided over by academic hosts Nish Kumar (Gentlemen of Leisure) and Ben Target (Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2011).

Thursday 8th December-Saturday 7th January

Tim Key: Masterslut
@ Soho Theatre

After another successful Fringe run this summer, Tim Key brings his excellent second solo show to London, delivering amusingly pithy poems off pornographic playing cards, while standing next to a warm bubble bath. Also features films, word games and surreal stories.

Saturday 10th December
Knock2Bag Christmas Party
@ Mermaid Centre

This has got festive hijinks written all over it. Ace comedy club Knock2Bag have pulled together a quality Christmas knees-up at the Mermaid Theatre, with some extra special guests including: BAFTA award-winning Peter Serafinowicz, amusingly lo-fi musician John Shuttleworth, top comedy producer Robert Popper (Peep Show,The Inbetweeners), multi-talented comedian Kevin Eldon (Brass Eye, I'm Alan Partridge) the delightfully crackers Brian Gittins, and Fergus Craig as your host.
