TV, Suttie and Stewart Lee: Editor's Choice, Comedy

14 October, 2011

Every Friday, our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Emma McAlpine selects her top three gigs.

Wednesday 19th October
TV @ The Invisible Dot

Renowned for their unique productions with only the best alternative comedians, The Invisible Dot gigs are always a safe bet. That said, who knows what's in store at this first performance of TV. All we know is  the quite brilliant Williams Andrews is the anchor and weather reports, booms and make-up artists are involved. That's sounds amusingly silly enough for us.

Thursday 20th October
Joking For Justice
@ Leicester Square Theatre

This gig doesn't need much explaining. Featuring a jam-packed line-up, hosted by Let's Dance winner Charlie Baker and featuring sets from the deadpan stand-up legend that is Stewart Lee, prison guard-turned-comic, Ava Vidal, erudite bookworm Robin Ince and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee 2010 Josie Long, this is going to be a cracking night.

Friday 21st October
Isy Suttie: Pearl and Dave
@ Bloomsbury Theatre

This was one of our favoruite shows at this year's Fringe. Pearl and Dave follows the journey of Suttie's childhood pen pal, Dave (a middle-aged accountant who lives with his Mum), as he pursues the love of his life via Facebook. Weaving infectious songs, colourful characters and witty turns of phrase into a poignant, heart-warming story, it's no wonder this went down a storm.
