by: Emma

Every Friday, our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Emma McAlpine selects her top three gigs.

Monday 23rd January
Reggie Watts @ Roundhouse

Currently in the middle of a European tour, the NY-based entertainer Reggie Watts brings his very special vocal talents to the Roundhouse. Watts has the ability to channel a wide range of vocal characters, constantly shifting personas and alternating them with loop pedal-based acapella compositions. He covers everything from ancient history and racism to pop-culture, in a heady mix of improvised music, comedy and social insight. Traversing hip-hop, trip-hop, alternative, nu-metal and classical opera, Watts is one heck of an entertainer.

Thursday 26th January-Saturday 4th February
Humphrey Ker is... Dymock Watson: Nazi Smasher! @ Soho Theatre

One third of brilliant sketch group The Penny Dreadfuls, Humphrey Ker brings his smash-hit debut solo show to the Soho Theatre. Dymock Watson: Nazi Smasher! is Ker's (mostly) true(ish) account of his Grandfather's escapades as a WWII Nazi-destroyer, who was parachuted into Romania on a dangerous secret mission.

Friday 27th-Saturday 28th January
Glenn Wool: No Lands Man @ Leciester Square Theatre

Canadian globetrotter Glen Wool returns to the Leicester Square Theatre with his latest show, a mix of observations, anecdotes and surreal meanderings based on his travels around the world. From rectal examinations to the thoughts of beavers, it's a typically rip-roaring, jumbled hour from the gifted storyteller.
