Best Halloween Theatre 2011

Best Halloween Theatre 2011

by: EmmaB

The Spoonfed Theatre Team love Halloween, so we've come up with five of our favourite Halloween Theatre events. See you there!

29th October
Belle Epoque Halloween Special @ The Grand Hall
The dark and the depraved come together for a night of corsets and cocktails in the heavily made-up Grand Hall. Alter-ego are unleashed in this undeniably lavish burlesque party where, the courtesans come on trapezes, the villains come in masks and absinthe comes in fountains.

From 27th September
The Veil @ National Theatre
So NT have put together all the ingredients you need for some classic Halloween theatre: a crumbly old haunted house, a dodgy member of the clergy, a séance and of course, impending tragedy.

From 28th October
Hamlet @ The Young Vic
A murder, a ghost, a skull and questionable levels of sanity all round, heck, the bard knew how to creep people out. The Young Vic's production of this classic tragedy stars Michael Sheen of The Damned United and Frost/Nixon and Adeel Akhtar of Four Lions!

On now
Wicked @ Victoria Palace Theatre
Ok, this might not scare the bejesus out of you but it does have flying monkeys and witches with warts, so if you're looking for something a little more light-hearted, head to the West End.

On now

The Woman in Black @ The Fortune Theatre
It's been running for twenty-one years and people are still scared by it. When Arthur Kipps is sent to do some legal work at Eel Marsh House, he's haunted by a mysterious woman in black. The events that take place terrify him for the rest of his life.
Best for: tension and suspense
