Gemma Bergomi

Film taste: Anything without Keira 'bland' Knightley and Russell Crowe. It's all about Disney and zombies.

Music taste: Pretty much anything.

Hangout: Cafes- thank you coffee/ tea addiction.

Most likes (about London): It's always busy and plenty to do.

Least likes: People who walk reeeeally slow/ people who get caught in tube doors

Me in 10 words: Clumsy, baffled, cheesy, geek, mixed, easily amused, trusting (gullible) and giggly.

Paramore – Ignorance
Fueled By Ramen

With the release of their latest album 'Brand New Eyes' hitting the shops at the end of the month, 'Ignorance' provides a glimpse of the long-awaited follow-up to their 2007 album success 'Riot'.

It still has those appealing emo riffs and solid vocals so it seems that it's very likely that this will be another hit from the band. There is also an acoustic version to listen to if you like!

Mika – We are Golden
Casablanca Music

Having already targeted the larger ladies audience, Mika has moved on to being down wid da kidz in his new song 'We are Golden', where he prances around in his underwear, singing about teenagers whilst lightning strikes him. It's just precious.

Seriously though, don't bother listening to it. It's absolute crap.

Jamie T – Chaka Demus EP
Virgin Records

It's been a while since 'Panic Prevention', but Jamie T has released a few teasers in recent weeks. This latest is a mini EP featuring the song 'Chaka Demus' off new album 'Kings and Queens'.

With a pretty similar sound to his previous work, it might be a bit disappointing if you were expecting something completely different, but 'Chaka Demus' is still a top tune and well worth the listen.

Team Waterpolo – Letting Go
Moshi Moshi Records

Euro-pop has always been well-liked, and I've learnt to accept this. On occasion I have been known to sing along to those catchy tunes, maybe even dance a little. Team Waterpolo seem to have cashed in on this, blending some unnecessary stuttering and keyboard synth so that they sound like a '80s version of the All-American Rejects.

Whilst 'Letting Go' is quite catchy, it gets bloody irritating after a while.

Three Trapped Tigers – EP 2
Blood and Biscuits

Like an old Nokia ring tone on the blink, in come Three Trapped Tigers with '2' from their latest EP. Whilst their previous songs have had a more defined electronica sound, this is a let down.

However, as the irritating beeping fades, the song starts to become bearable, even if the piano and gentle humming combo does resemble something from the Twilight soundtrack.

I'm sure they make a great live band, but listening to them on your iPod just isn't the same.

venue Southwark Playhouse Monday, 10 August
The Southwark Playhouse is fairly easy to find: it's tucked away behind a pub, but as long as you resist the distraction of the water feature across the road then it's a fairly easy one to access as it's not too far from the local tube station.

The place itself is perfect for fringe theatre, which is what it usually provides, thanks to the low hire rates it offers. If you want a new, upcoming production to invigorate the mind then this is the place for you.

It can be a bit chilly in there though, so take a jumper!

Flo Rida feat. Nelly Furtado – Jump
Atlantic

Like a chipmunk on crack, Nelly Furtado squeals her way through another collaboration with 'Jump', this time alongside Flo Rida. Since ditching her hippy image the singer-songwriter has worked her way through the top names in R'n'B, and has had a couple of decent tunes. So, what evil person made her pair up with Flo Rida? Apart from 'Low' the guy is a disgrace.

When Nelly Furtado says jump, I'm very tempted. 1/5

The XX – Basic Space
Young Turks

With previous song 'Crystalised' crowned single of the week back in April, The XX have a lot of Spoonfed pressure on their shoulders this week, with the release of 'Basic Space'.

Oliver and Romy, lead singers of The XX, once again fuse haunting melodies and that all-important techno beat, to create an effortless sound that makes 'Basic Space' a winner. The song is another first-class listen, and again displays the promise of an up-coming band. Phew! 4/5
