When summer sets in and the streets of London begin to shimmer in the heat the mind starts to wonder, twisting and plotting great escapes. Of course leaving London could leave you with that most horrid of conditions, Spoonfed withdrawal. But fear not, in a new series Spoonfed will be previewing some of the best events that you could possibly dream of when escaping London this summer, especially if you don't want to leave behind the kind of exhilerating and groundbreaking events that you find on Spoonfed week in and week out.

There can be little doubt that Norway is one of the most beautiful countries on earth. Sharing the kind of breathtaking geography of other global extremities such as New Zealand, it’s glacial fjords and 24/7 summers lend it an otherworldly vibe.

Into this already stunning setting the Hove Festival thrusts the very best of world musical talent onto an intoxicating Norweigan coastline for 4 days of music, nature, beaches and camping every June. Like many european festivals it boasts an incredible line up of bands that it’s increasingly hard and costly to see in the UK, with this years line up offering the perfect excuse to take the week off work and get yourselves up to the good north.

Alongside the cream of Scandinavian talent such as Casiokids, Lykke Li, Enslaved, I Was A King and The New Wine there are global megastars such as The Killers, Slipknot, Franz Ferdinand and the legendary Faith No More fresh from their Download show. Alongside these headline acts is a plethora of the hottest new rising stars and those whom you will be hearing a lot more about in the future. The Temper Trap will be adding to their growing legend with what promises to be another killer set and UK trio Golden Silvers, Little Boots and White Lies showcase the vitality of the current UK music scene.

As well as the main stages Hove also features dedicated Hip Hop and dance line ups alongside a strong cinema and theatre presence that ensure that your mom, your dad and even your fiddy worshipping younger brother will have a good time.

As is only appropriate for a festival in such a serene setting Hove is on of the most environmentally aware festivals in Europe and looks to make sure that whilst everyone has the best week of their year that the site is just as beautiful when they return the following one. Punters being given the option of opting for the Zero Footprint camp as well as the normal camping facilities.

It’s all part of the friendly vibe that ensures Hove is quickly garnering the reputation as one of Europe’s top festivals.

By ferry, by plane or by train there’s only one place you should be heading if you are thinking of leaving the big smoke this June. Spoonfed will be bringing you live twitter feeds and blogs from the festival itself and also getting exclusive interviews with those artists who will be hitting London later in the year to wet your appetite if you can't make it out of the capital this summer.

Hove Festival runs from 22nd - 25th June on the island of Tromøy, just off Arendal in Southern Norway.  Click to see the Hove Festival Site and find out more
